Research Interests

Dr. Arbelaez is especially interested in the brain’s role in response to hypoglycemia and counterregulation; as well as the effects of diabetes on brain metabolism, structure, and function. She is currently conducting a series of human studies looking at the neural basis underlying the development of hypoglycemia associated autonomic failure using insulin/glucose clamp techniques, PET and fMRI imaging methodologies.
